BONSERNEWS.com – The government officially revoked the status of the COVID-19 pandemic today, now that Indonesia is entering an endemic period.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revealed the government’s considerations before determining this status.
“Since today, Wednesday, 21 June 2023, the government has decided to revoke the pandemic status and we are entering an endemic period,” said Jokowi.

Jokowi said this decision was taken after the government considered a number of things.
One of them is related to the current COVID-19 case in Indonesia and also the revocation of the public health emergency status by WHO.
“This decision was taken by the government taking into account that the daily confirmation rate for COVID-19 cases is close to zero, the results of a sero survey show that 99 percent of Indonesians already have COVID-19 antibodies, WHO has also revoked the status of a public health emergency of international concern,” he said.

Even so, Jokowi asked the public to remain vigilant.
The public is asked to continue living a healthy life even though Indonesia’s current status is endemic.
“Nevertheless, I ask the public to remain careful and continue to practice a healthy and clean lifestyle,” he concluded.
