The Amendment Discourse, More Appropriately to be Done by the MPR is Coming

BONSERNEWS.com – MPR Deputy Speaker, Syarief Hasan said, in the last two years the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) had discussed making amendments to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia.
Changes are needed, considering the many inputs that require changes in the practice of the state administration system.
Some of the proposed changes in constitutional practice include adding the term of office for the president and vice president, enforcing the Principles of State Policy (PPHN), as a replacement for the GBHN.

Until the proposal for the MPR to return to being the highest state institution, with the task of selecting and appointing a president and vice president, also holding the president’s performance accountable.
“We are aware that changing the constitution is the task of the MPR. That’s why we went to the field, capturing the aspirations of various sections of society. After calculations, it was concluded that the demand for changing the constitution, it is better to be carried out by the next MPR leadership period, not the current period. ” said Syarif Hasan, Wednesday 21 June 2023.

Apart from postponing the amendment, said Syarief Hasan, the results of the aspirations of the people were concluded, so that the amendments to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia were not carried out partially, but had to be comprehensive, covering the existing articles. ()
