BONSERNEWS.com – Effendi MS Simbolon is a member of the DPR RI for the 2009-2014 period from the PDIP (Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) faction.
The man who was born in Banjarmasin on December 1, 1964 succeeded in walking to Senayan after he managed to get 59,718 votes.
In the DPR RI itself, Simbolon was appointed to serve as deputy chairman of commission VII which focuses on the problem areas of Energy, Mineral Resources, Research, Technology and the Environment.

Effendi Simbolon, who currently serves as Chair of the PDIP Central Leadership Council for Resources and Funds, was nominated as a candidate for PDIP secretary general for the period 2010 to 2015.
He is considered by other cadres as a critical and constructive figure, this is the figure PDIP feels needs in the future.
Apart from being in politics, Effendi Simbolon is also active in various other activities.

He was appointed as Head of Alumni of SMA Negeri 3, Jakarta.
With members of about 600 people consisting of various backgrounds.
One of the alumni is the former Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, Aburizal Bakrie.
In 2008, Effendi Simbolon was also entrusted with serving as General Chair of the PB Lembaga Karatedo Indonesia (PB Lemkari) until 2012 replacing the old chairman for the 2004-2008 period, Doddy Susanto.
At Lemkari, Effendi Simbolon will be assisted by Deputy Chairperson I Bambang Wuryanto and Deputy Chairperson II who is also the Daily Chairperson of Sasongko and 22 other board members.
Effendi Simbolon was also one of the initiators of the formation of the Indonesian National Symbolist Center (PSBI), an association for families with the Simbolon clan.
