BONSERNEWS.com – The government is opening an alternative option for the Eid al-Adha 2023 holiday to two days, namely June 28-29 2023. Currently, the Eid al-Adha holiday is only set for June 29 2023.

For information, the government has agreed and stipulated 24 days of National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2023.
The agreement was stated in the Joint Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers namely the Minister of Religion (Menag), Minister of Manpower (Menaker), and Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (MenPANRB) Number 1066 of 2022, Number 3 of 2022, and Number 3 of 2022. 2022 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2023.

The government itself has not set a time for Eid al-Adha 2023 because it will only hold an Isbat meeting on June 18, 2023. On the other hand, Muhammadiyah has set Eid al-Adha on June 28, 2023.
Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas stated that his party would review the discourse on the two-day Eid al-Adha holiday, a suggestion from Muhammadiyah.

The proposal was put forward by the General Secretary of PP Muhammadiyah Abdul Mu’ti following the possibility that there would be a difference in the date of the Eid al-Adha 1444 H celebration between Muhammadiyah members and the government’s version.
PP Muhammadiyah has issued Notice Number 1/MLM/I.0/E 2023 concerning Determination of the Results of the Reckoning of Ramadhan, Shawwal, and Zulhijah 1444 H which states 1 Zulhijah 1444 H falls on Monday 19 June 2023, so Eid al-Adha 1444 H —which is celebrated every the 10th of Zulhijah— falls on Wednesday 28 June 2023.
Meanwhile, the Government based on the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform concerning Changes to National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2023 stipulates the national holiday of Eid al-Adha 1444 H falling on June 29, 2023.
Therefore, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Regional Leadership of Surakarta City 2022—2027 on Wednesday (7/6) last week, Abdul Mu’ti proposed before Deputy Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa that the Eid al-Adha holiday be given two days .
“So the two days off, namely June 28 or 29 2023. I think the civil servants agree on that. This is the deputy mayor’s suggestion, because there was once a Muhammadiyah member who became ASN did not take part in Eid (Eid al-Adha) because he had to go to the office,” Mu’ti said as quoted from Muhammadiyah’s official website.
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy responded to this discourse, who said that this matter needed to be studied and responded to in order to find a joint solution.
“I have said that it needs to be studied and it needs to be responded to. Right, joint leave is using a Presidential Regulation (Presidential Regulation, ed.), if the President hasn’t given instructions, then not yet,” said Muhadjir.
