Cases of anthrax virus in Indonesia have been detected in livestock such as cattle and buffalo.

In humans, the anthrax virus can cause three forms of the disease: skin anthrax, lung anthrax, and intestinal anthrax, each with different symptoms.

According to the National Animal Disease Situation Site, a number of anthrax cases have been reported in several regions of Indonesia since 2020, such as Jogjakarta, Gorontalo, East Java, Central Java, NTB and South Sulawesi.

Local government and health authorities have taken swift action to identify and isolate these cases to prevent further spread.

Such measures include vaccinating susceptible animals, destroying infected animal carcasses, and providing medical care to individuals exposed to the virus.

Prevention is key in controlling the spread of anthrax virus outbreaks.

The Indonesian government has stepped up prevention efforts by holding public awareness campaigns about anthrax and preventive measures that can be taken.
