BONSERNEWS.com – Member of the Republic of Indonesia DPR for the Democratic Party (PD), Sartono Hutomo, considers it to be a good start for the success of the 2024 Election with the Constitutional Court or MK ruling deciding that the 2024 Election will continue to use an open proportional system or punch in the pictures/names of candidates for legislative members (caleg) .
According to him, the Constitutional Court’s decision must also be welcomed by parties and contestants for the 2024 Election with the political education of the candidates.

Sartono emphasized that candidates who are competitive and with integrity are certainly a big asset in maintaining the health and progress of Indonesian democracy.

Previously, the Constitutional Court had decided on a lawsuit against an open proportional electoral system in the Election Law Number 7 of 2017 Concerning Elections.
In its decision, the Constitutional Court rejected the lawsuit regarding the election system, and stated that the 2024 election would still use an open proportional system.
The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman read the decision, Thursday 15 June 2023.
“Based on the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and onwards, the verdict adjudicates, in terms of profession rejecting the applicant’s professional application, in the substance of the application rejecting the applicant’s application in its entirety,” said Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman when reading the verdict.
