Fahri Hamzah Urges Dewas to Reveal Alleged Extortion at the KPK Detention Center

BONSERNEWS.com – Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian People’s Wave Party (Gelora) Fahri Hamzah said the Corruption Eradication Commission Supervisory Board (Dewas KPK) had worked optimally in supervising the anti-corruption agency it supervised.

“We listened carefully to all the findings from the KPK supervisory board, such as uncovering allegations of extortion or extortion at the KPK detention center, worth IDR 4 billion from December 2021 to March 2022. Unfortunately, there are still many reactions that cast doubt on the reputation of the members of the supervisory board. this,” said Fahri Hamzah, Saturday, June 24, 2023.

In this case, Fahri stated about the need to sit two cases at once. First, it concerns the existence of the board of directors as a result of the amendment and revision of the KPK Law, and secondly, it concerns the people who were elected as leaders and members of the supervisory board for the first period.

“Because in the past, the KPK’s work was almost unsupervised, and that is what has led to extraordinary irregularities, but these irregularities were successfully hidden and not heard about because there was no supervision,” he said.

Currently, according to the Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI for the 2014-2019 period, due to the existence of a supervisory board, not only does supervision become attached to this superbody institution.

However, the existence of a supervisory board has led to the emergence of awareness and thoroughness in how KPK employees work and the emergence of public participation in reporting irregularities.

“That’s what we are enjoying now, including when the KPK leaders and their employees are repeatedly reported to the supervisory board about various legal and ethical violations that they might commit in their daily duties,” said the former Deputy Chairperson of Commission III (which deals with law) of the DPR. They are Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean (former chairman of the KPK), Syamsuddin Haris (former LIPI researcher), Albertina Ho (former judge), Dr. Harjono (former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court) and Professor Indriyanto Seno Adji (Professor of FH-UI) who replaced the late Artijo Alkostar, the famous former Supreme Court Justice.
